Description/History:

A great second-generation CDV showing Lincoln
and Tad posed for Gardner with a painted backdrop
of Washington DC. Taken only
four days before his assassination, this would be
the last time Tad was able to pose
with his father. A blue two-cent tax stamp,
on the verso, bears Gardner's
cancellation with the date June 5, 1865.
