Description: (1841-1864) A resident of Chatham, Mass. who
enlisted in late 1863 as a private. Quickly, he rose to the rank of
1st sergeant only to be killed June 3, 1864 during Grant's
fool-hearty attack upon strongly entrenched Confederate soldiers
at Cold Harbor, Virginia.
