Full Name: D. Layfayettes Musselman (ca. 1863)

Rank: 2nd Lieut. Co. G., 85th Illinois Vols.

Description/History:
Mid chest view of Musselman who enlisted during 1862
as a 1st sergeant. His regiment fought at Stone’s River,
Chickamauga, and served during the Atlanta campaign.
He finished his service with the army as a captain,
but was discharged before he was mustered with
that rank. Period ink inscription at the bottom of the front.
