Full Name: James Warren Gates (Nov. 13, 1862)

Rank: Pvt. Co. 25th Conn. Vols.

Description/History:
A great full standing view of Gates who enlisted on
November 11, 1862. Gates wears a nine-button
frock coat while his kepi rests next to him, on a
pedestal, and bears the regiment’s insignia.
Promoted corporal during January 1863. He fought
with the regiment when it participated at the battle
of Irish Bend on April 14, 1863, and during the siege
of Port Hudson, La. Very light, period pencil inscription
reads: “Warren Gates, Nov. 13, 1862”.

Condition: Slight toning, else very good.
