Full Name:: Irvin McDowell (1862)

Description/History:
Mid chest of McDowell who graduated from West Point
in 1834. Promoted brigadier general in 1861.
He was supreme Union commander at the battle
of First Bull Run. Losing the battle, he held minor
commands in the east until transferred to California in 1864.
In retired life he was San Francisco’s park commissioner.
