Description/History:
He was made a brigadier general at the outbreak
of the Civil War after campaigning enthusiastically
for Abraham Lincoln. During the battle of First Bull Run
he commanded a brigade under Gen. Tyler’s command,
and the following year was wounded in the arm at the
battle of Second Bull Run.
